Trench

Twenty One Pilots raised the bar on this one. This is not just a collection of good songs, it’s so much deeper than that. Trench is everything I look for in a good album.

 

The songs are memorable, all of the songs. There are no skippable tracks on this one. They are all great and serve a purpose on the album.

 

The playing is top notch. Tyler’s vocals are out of this world. Josh Dun needs to be considered in future all-time greatest drummers lists. His beats on songs like My Blood and Levitate show just how good he really is.

 

The production is some of the best I have ever heard. Production and engineering play a big part in ranking my albums and this one easily takes the cake.

 

Then there is the underlying story. Tyler and Josh created this fictional world that these songs live in. The deep you dive into this album the more you reveal. I have listened to this album countless times since its release in October and I learn something new every time.

 

I was lucky enough to get to see these guys in concert a couple months ago and it was the best show I have ever seen.
