Arcade Fire – Reflektor
Producer – James Murphy, Markus Dravs, Arcade Fire
Arcade Fire are on what has to be a record setting streak of continuously making extremely adept albums. They have yet to release a bad album and have yet to not make my top 20 list. Reflektor, their fourth album, is a two disc 78 minute musical kaleidoscope of brilliant alt rock songwriting and performances.
On the surface they are strange but give them a listen and you will be pleasantly surprised. The first time I listened to their second album Neon Bible I thought “this sucks, why do all the critics give it some much praise?” Then I listened to it again and started to get it. With every subsequent listen I got more of it each time and realized how brilliant it actually was. This has been the case with all of their albums, the layers reveal themselves with every listen. A song I didn’t care for on first listen ends up becoming my favorite track the 10th time I listen to the album.
Favorite Tracks: We Exist, It’s Never Over (Hey Orpheus)
