#4 – My Favorite Albums of 2012

John Mayer – Born and Raised

Producer – John Mayer, Don Was
John Mayer has recorded five very different studio albums and all of them have been masterpieces. Born and Raised unveils a more folk rock sound in the likes of James Taylor.
It’s unfortunate that Mayer’s personal unbecoming  has affected how truly gifted he is as a singer/songwriter. I believe he has finally matured enough to understand his art is more important to him than his celebrity. He celebrates this fact in the first single “Shadow Days” singing-
“I’m a good man with a good heart
Had a tough time, got a rough start
But I finally learned to let it go
Now I’m right here, and I’m right now
And I’m hoping, knowing somehow
That my shadows days are over
My shadow days are over now”
One listen to the quirky “Walt Grace’s Submarine Test, January 1967” and you will know how truly gifted John Mayer really is.
