#8 – Jane’s Addiction – The Great Escape Artist

Starting a new chapter for the band with a new sound, The Great Escape Artist is their heaviest and most focused album of the four. Stephen Perkins lays down a huge foundation on which Dave Navarro layers wall of guitar sounds only to be cut through by Perry Farrell’s melodic and trance infusing vocals. “Irresistible Force” is by far the best song the band has ever recorded. One listen to that track playing on the car stereo turned up waiting for that wall of sound in the chorus to hit you and you will be hooked. Incredible melodies on songs like “Underground”, “End To The Lies” and “I’ll Hit You Back” are a pleasure to listen to. “Broken People” is a beautiful hypnotic ballad.
